Another sucessful Road Race by Athea RRC.

Athea RRC held its Eight Annual Road Race last weekend with the first race taking place at 10.30am on Sunday morning. Athea saw top riders such as Keith Amor from Scotland, Ryan Farquhar from Tyrone, Adrian Archibald and of course the Dunlop brothers William and Michael racing for championship points. Ryan Farquhar won the Grand Final, 600cc championship race and the newly added race – SV Super Twin Championship. Keith Amor was just .68 seconds behind Ryan Farquhar in the Grand Final but was indeed very happy with his win in the Open 201-1010cc championship. Michael Dunlop was declared Man of the Meeting with impressive results achieved in all five races in which he competed in. Newcomer Benny Smith had impressive wins in the supports with newcomer Denis Gallagher from Scotland receiving Classic Man of the Meeting.  For a full listing of results please check out our link above : Results - 2009.

Nationwide TV coverage will be televised in the Autumn - Dates and Times to be posted on receipt.

Athea Road Race Club would like to thank everyone who supported your Sport & are looking forward to welcoming everyone back in 2010!

Quotes

"Seven years ago when it was first announced that there was to be a new Southern Road Race in Athea, I have to be honest and admit I had no idea where it was. How times have changed in the following years it has finally secured itself a place in the folklore and traditions of Real Road Racing alongside the likes of Skerries, Kells, etc.
This year saw the likes of debutant Keith Amor, Ryan Farquahar and Michael and William Dunlop, to name but a few, on the starting lineup, which speaks volumes for the Club....."
Aidan Lynam Bike Buyers Guide.

"A RECORD crowd filed into Athea last weekend for the seventh annual Road Race event, which is already being heralded as one of the most successful to date.."
